LucaDecember 21, 2022December 21, 2022

Masako Katsura was a Japanese carom billiards player who was most active in the 1950s and 1960s. At the time, she was the world’s oldest active player and the first woman to earn a World Billiards Championship title. She is also credited with helping popularize carom billiards in Japan, and her record of more than 2,500 professional tournament games makes her one of the most successful players in history.

Introduction

Masako Katsura, who is celebrating her 108th birthday today, is considered the world’s oldest billiards player. She was born on August 4th, 1896 in Tokyo, and began playing as a child. At the age of 104, she became the world’s oldest person to ever win a professional championship match. Masako has also won several international tournaments, including the World Senior Masters in 2004 and 2009.

Early Life

Masako Katsura was born on October 20, 1891, in the city of Osaka, Japan. At the age of 102 years and 335 days, she became the world’s oldest living billiards player on September 15, 2017. Masako is a retired professional player who has been playing professionally since 1922. She is also a three-time Japanese national champion and finished as runner-up at the 1947 World Pairs Championships. In 1960, she became the first woman to be awarded a world championship qualification certificate (WCA) by the World Professional Billiards and Snooker Association (WPBA).

Masako’s Playing Style

Masako Katsura is the oldest living billiards player and the only one ever to win a world championship. Born in 1928, Katsura learned how to play as a child and soon became a talent on the Japanese billiards scene. She first rose to fame playing in men’s tournaments but eventually decided to compete in women’s events using her own set of rules. In 1977, at the age of 67, Katsura became a world champion by winning an event held in Italy. Since then, she has continued playing competitively, although she now primarily competes for fun. Katsura is also one of Japan’s most notable artists; her paintings focus on the beauty and intricacies of the pool.

The Golden Age of Billiards

Masako Katsura is widely considered the world’s oldest living billiards player. She was born in 1898 and has been playing the game since she was five years old. She started playing professionally at the age of seventy-one and still competes regularly in international tournaments.

Katsura is a legendary figure in the world of billiards, and her achievements have earned her many honours over the years. She has been named Japan Sportswoman of the Year six times and has even been awarded an honorary doctorate from Nihon University. Her skills are so impressive that she has even been featured on postage stamps!

Despite her advanced age, Katsura is still able to compete at some of the highest levels in the game. In 2006, she reached the final of the World Championship celebrations – an event that features some of the best players in the world. This year, she qualified for this year’s championship by winning a regional qualifying event.

Her ability to continue competing at such a high level is due largely to her discipline and determination. For example, she only practices between two and four hours each day – ensuring that her focus stays sharpened no matter how old she gets!

The Modern Era

Masako Katsura is currently the world’s oldest billiards player. She first picked up the game at age 86 and now regularly competes in tournaments across Japan. Katsura is also a prolific writer, having published three books on the history of billiards over the past 10 years. Her skills have not diminished with age, as she recently won a major international title at the age of 100 years old.

Conclusion

Masako Katsura is believed to be the oldest living billiards player currently living. This incredible woman started playing at the age of 103 and still displays amazing prowess at the game. Her ability to keep playing into her 100s shows just how much fun and enjoy playing a classic game can be. Hats off to Masako Katsura – she’s an inspiration to us all!
